The Margate City Commission approved a design‑build guaranteed maximum price (GMP) agreement with Global Tech Inc. for the wastewater treatment plant headworks rehabilitation, authorizing a contract not to exceed $12,909,057 inclusive of contingencies.
City staff noted the contract will be paid from a voter‑approved bond issuance for water and wastewater projects. The city manager reported that the city issued $60 million in revenue bonds and received net proceeds of approximately $63 million after sale premiums, improving financing terms for on‑going projects.
David Schuman, Global Tech’s vice president of project delivery and a Margate resident, introduced himself and said the company will oversee delivery of the headworks rehabilitation. Commissioners voted to approve the resolution by roll call; the clerk recorded unanimous support.
The resolution directs staff to finalize the GMP agreement and begin procurement and mobilization activities consistent with bond conditions and project controls. Staff said the award is timely to keep the bond‑funded capital program on schedule.
Next steps: staff will execute the negotiated GMP, begin detailed design and construction planning, and provide regular project updates to the commission.
