Board approves minutes, reinstatement and re-exempts sustainability coordinator position

My name is Frank Bach, and I serve as the president of the Board of City Service Commissioners.
The Board of City Service Commissioners on Dec. 2 approved three routine items: the Nov. 18 meeting minutes, a reinstatement request for Hannibal Jackson to the Department of Public Works as a city laborer, and a request to re-exempt the environmental sustainability program coordinator position. All three measures were moved, seconded and approved unanimously by the commissioners present.
The reinstatement item (file no. 251273) was introduced by the executive secretary and, per President Bach, the board had received a supporting letter from Dan Thomas, DPW administrative services director. The board voted to approve the reinstatement; President Bach stated, “The reinstatement request is approved.”
On the classification request (file no. 251272), President Bach said Director Schamburger had explained that the coordinator position leads the Water Centric City initiative and represents the mayor on the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Cities Initiative. A memo from Ms. Urban was also provided in support. After a motion and second, the board approved the request to re-exempt the position; as the chair summarized, “The request is approved.”
Commissioners also discussed scheduling for January appeal hearings and regular meetings. President Bach asked staff to hold Jan. 20, Jan. 21, Jan. 23 and Jan. 26; Miss Moore confirmed the dates and told the board, “There are 2 outstanding right now,” referring to appeals awaiting scheduling. Commissioners asked staff to resend and confirm the 2026 meeting schedule.
The meeting concluded after brief administrative announcements. A motion to adjourn passed and the board adjourned; the chair noted the board would meet again in two weeks.
