Committee declares KingsConnect an official city event, authorizes acceptance of contributions

The Community and Economic Development Committee voted to declare KingsConnect an official city event and to authorize acceptance and expenditure of contributions to support the program.
Autumn Taylor presented KingsConnect, saying the event is a luncheon designed to equip youth with information and resources to prevent exploitation and human trafficking. Taylor said the city already runs a similar initiative called Pot of Gold for girls and that community members requested comparable programming for young men; she told the committee KingsConnect is scheduled for Feb. 9, 2026. Alderman Deandre Jackson moved adoption and the committee approved the substitute resolution by hearing no objection.
Taylor told the committee the event is intended to expand outreach and leverage city resources to support survivors and at-risk youth. The resolution authorizes the city to accept contributions for the event; the committee did not identify any immediate budgetary obligations outside those contributions.
