The Fire and Police Commission on Dec. 18 adopted its consent agenda and approved a series of personnel actions and promotions across city departments.
Director Leon Todd read the consent agenda (minutes, routine resolutions and appointments), which the commission adopted by general consent with no objections. The commission then approved amendments to eligible lists and multiple promotion resolutions by voice and roll-call votes.
Promotions approved by roll call included four Emergency Communications Officer 2 appointments (Ariana Kadot Merced, Tanisha Russell, Jason Powell, Barbara Bruce), a large slate of fire lieutenant promotions presented by Chief Lipsky, and several mobile integrated health and EMS supervisory appointments. Chief Lipsky and commissioners praised the quality of promotees and the department’s training pipeline.
Some promotion candidates were held for further interview and taken up in closed session under Wis. Stat. 19.85(1)(c); after the closed session the commission reconvened and completed votes on the held items, including reinstatements of sick-leave balances for two reappointed fire personnel and the previously held detective promotion for Michael Velooch Jr., all of which carried by voice or roll-call vote. The board adjourned after completing the agenda.
