The board heard a presentation from Tara of Trinity Solar, who described the proposal as a "replacement of the full roof as well as 24 solar panels." Tara said the system size is "9.84" (units not specified), with 20 panels on the front-facing plane and four on the back, three planes in total, an inverter mounted on the side and new IKO Dynasty granite black shingles. She said the panels are "Q CELLS" and described them as "black on black, flush mounted." The applicant represented that the roof will be replaced with granite-black shingles to match the black panels.
Board members asked for additional site views and confirmation of roof orientation and color. A neighbor, Harrison Cowie of 70 Hunter Avenue, asked at the podium, "Did you say that the roof will now be black and then the panels on top will [be] black?" Tara replied that the new shingles will be black and that the panels are black-on-black.
After discussion about visual impact — several members said the front roof plane is set back and angled in a way that reduces visibility from the street — an unidentified board member moved "that we pass this ... as presented," a second was given, and the board voted in favor. The chair recorded "Aye" and announced the motion passes; the applicant was told they were "all set." The meeting adjourned after the vote.
Two other items on the evening's agenda — an application by Walter Nestler for a below-ground pool and related fencing at 10 Manhattan Avenue, and Elena Bart's application to replace 19 windows at 31 The Boulevard — were both adjourned (the pool item to further notice and the window replacement to the January meeting).
