Council approves R1 to consolidate precincts and designates bonus convenience centers; consent calendar cleared

The Rio Rancho governing body unanimously approved Resolution R1, which designates bonus convenience centers and consolidates precincts for the March election. The council also approved the consent calendar and corrected a clerical error in the meeting minutes header.

A presenter explained that seven precincts had been split and that the changes led to eight additional precincts in higher-growth areas; to accommodate the changes, some precincts were reassigned to established polling locations. The presiding officer took a motion to approve R1, the motion was seconded and a roll-call vote followed. Councillors List, Tyler, Dapson, Linnentine, Weimer and Culbreth all voted yes; the resolution passed unanimously. The consent calendar was handled earlier in the meeting with a motion, second and unanimous roll-call approval. The presiding officer also noted a clerical error in the minutes header (the date should read 12/18/2025) and instructed Clerk Davis to correct it.
