The Rules Committee considered Item 2, appointments to the Early Childhood Community Oversight and Advisory Committee (terms ending Oct. 8, 2027). Barbara Ellen Walden said she is the early education program director at MNC Inspiring Success, overseeing operations, health and safety, and fiscal management across 11 centers serving more than 300 children. Monique Guidry described nearly three decades in early childhood education and said she represents the Childcare Planning and Advisory Council (CPAC), stressing workforce and classroom perspectives for oversight.
A member of the public, Audrey, urged the committee to appoint Guidry, calling her a ‘‘strong choice for EC coach’’ who leads with equity and capacity-building. Chair Walton moved to approve Barbara Ellen Walden for seat 7 (requesting a residency waiver) and Monique Guidry for seat 9, and to forward the committee's positive recommendations to the Board of Supervisors. Vice Chair Supervisor Cheryl, Member Madelmann and Chair Walton voted aye and the motion passed without objection.
Next steps: both nominations will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for final consideration on the Board agenda.
