The Historic Preservation Commission unanimously adopted a proposed resolution supporting placement of a bust of former Mayor Art Agnos in City Hall on Dec. 17.
Commissioner Vergara introduced the resolution, describing a group of Agnos' friends who commissioned a sculptor and identified a location on the mayoral balcony; he noted Agnos' role in removing the Embarcadero freeway and framed the bust as recognition of that work. The item was opened for public comment; no members of the public spoke on the matter.
A motion to approve the resolution was made and seconded, and commissioners voted 6–0 in favor. The commission clerk recorded the vote as unanimous. The resolution will proceed as the commission's formal recommendation on placement of the bust.
