Baylard said UC Law provides about 50,000 hours of pro bono legal services annually and emphasized the institution’s commitment to the civic center neighborhood.
Near-term projects include a comprehensive seismic upgrade and renovation of Macalester Tower — which the presentation said would add about 277 beds by 2027 — and a longer-term option agreement to develop additional campus housing at a Unite Here Local 2 site that could yield 200–400 beds when financing and market conditions allow. Commissioners thanked UC Law staff, noted the thoroughness of the voluntary IMP and welcomed continued investment in the neighborhood. No commission action was required for this informational item.
