With Director Ralph Remington absent, Deputy Director of Programs Evan Glenn presented the Arts Commission’s director’s report, highlighting the agency’s work over the past year and several upcoming items for public participation.
Glenn summarized accomplishments including recent unveilings and public‑art installations, release of the 500‑page Shaping Legacy audit, and expanded grant and convening work with community partners. He announced exhibitions opening this month: "Moving San Francisco: Views of the SFMTA Photo Archive 1903–2025" (opening Jan. 15) and a group exhibition, "Dream Jungle," slated to open Jan. 29 in the SFAC main gallery and run through May 2, 2026. He also encouraged commissioners and the public to view the program’s year‑end wrap video (playback was delayed due to audio issues during the meeting).
Staff noted an open call for a Civic Center Plaza temporary sculpture installation with an extended submittal deadline of Feb. 2, 2026, 11:59 p.m. PST, open to U.S. resident artists and U.S.-represented gallery artists. Glenn also called attention to a Pier 27 ribbon‑cutting and unveiling scheduled for Jan. 16 and the Commission’s annual arts convening planned for Feb. 19 at the Herbst Theater.
Commissioners asked procedural and visibility questions about the video and thanked staff for their year of work. There was no public comment on the director’s report at the meeting.
