Marcus Shelby, chair of the nominating committee, told commissioners the panel solicited feedback from staff and colleagues and found broad support for retaining Collins and Chiodo. “Due to their steady guidance, effective meeting management and the value of maintaining continuity,” Shelby said, the committee recommended re-nomination.
Commissioner JD Beltran moved the nomination and Commissioner Benavides seconded. There was no public comment on the item and the motion passed unanimously.
Commissioners who spoke during the discussion described the process as open and candid. Several members praised staff coordination and said the nominations reflected a practical choice to sustain leadership amid planned organizational changes now under consideration by a citywide streamlining task force.
The election was conducted as a formal motion with recorded seconds; commissioners then returned Collins and Chiodo to the dais to resume their officer responsibilities.
