Public Works chair Lauren Post steps down; commissioners elect Fadi Zabe as chair

Lauren Post, chair of the San Francisco Public Works Commission, announced Dec. 11 that she will step down after three and a half years leading the panel.

The announcement came at the start of the commission’s meeting, where Post told colleagues she was proud of accomplishments since the commission’s formation and thanked staff and commissioners for their support. “I am stepping down with a feeling of pride in what the Commission has accomplished,” Post said.

Commissioners used the meeting’s election item to nominate and approve new officers. Commissioner Paul Wolford nominated Vice Chair Fadi Zabe for chair and Commissioner Gerald Turner nominated Commissioner Eleanor Bloom for vice chair. The commission voted unanimously to approve both nominations; the gavel was handed to Chair Zabe during the same session.

The change is procedural: the commission followed the rules in Article 2, Section 1 of its rules of order to elect next year’s leadership before the end of the calendar year. Chair Zabe thanked his colleagues after the vote.

The meeting proceeded with remaining agenda items, including director and budget briefings and multiple presentations. The commission later moved into closed session and voted not to disclose closed-session discussions.

Next steps: the commission’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
