San Francisco — The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission voted unanimously to authorize acquisition of an approximately 41.14-acre parcel at 10115 Moccasin Switchback Road in Tuolumne County for $525,000, a staff presentation said.
Josh Keane, assistant real estate director, told commissioners the property abuts SFPUC fee-owned land and existing easements for water conveyance and power transmission. He said ownership would simplify maintenance access, potentially create more direct emergency egress routes during fires or other incidents, and extinguish multiple easements that currently constrain operations. Keane said a Phase I environmental site assessment showed no adverse conditions and staff determined the purchase is exempt from CEQA.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about the map and the strategic value of assembling parcels in the Moccasin area. Commissioner Stacy described the price as reasonable and supported the acquisition. The motion to approve carried 5–0 on roll call.
The staff report indicates the property will be acquired within the calendar year if the commission’s action is implemented. Funding details were discussed by staff as part of the capital program and project budgets.
