OEWD said the SF Thrives program will offer reimbursement grants up to $10,000 for eligible operational expenses to storefront businesses located in designated low‑ to moderate‑income neighborhoods that were operating on or before Dec. 31, 2020 and that closed or limited operations during the city's shelter‑in‑place orders. Staff said the first step is a simple eligibility verification form due Friday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m., available through the Office of Small Business website.
Separately, staff noted the Department of Public Health introduced local legislation to allow a compact mobile food operations program consistent with state law for mobile food operations of specified sizes and dimensions. OSB staff said implementation details are under discussion with relevant departments.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions (including eligibility windows and continued ownership requirements); staff confirmed storefronts must have been operating on or before Dec. 31, 2020 and remain in the same ownership. No public comment was recorded on these items.
Staff urged eligible businesses to submit the verification form and to consult the Office of Small Business website for full application details.
