Committee approves five‑month extension and $2.19M increase for SFGH unarmed security contract

Will Alderman (OCA) said the extension is intended to provide continuity of security services while a new solicitation is prepared and to allow sufficient time for procurement. He described the contract as “as‑needed” and explained OCA applied a 20% contingency to account for wage increases, staffing changes and events that might increase security needs. The Budget and Legislative Analyst’s office corroborated the recommendation to approve the short‑term amendment.
Chair Chan moved an amendment to correct a clerical dollar amount (a $3,000 reduction) that OCA circulated; the committee adopted the amendment and voted 3–0 to forward the amended resolution to the full Board with a positive recommendation.
The extension preserves continuity of security staffing and gives OCA time to complete an RFP and award a new contract.
