The San Francisco Entertainment Commission approved a broad set of permit applications and amendments Tuesday night, clearing multiple places of entertainment, LLP amendments and extended hours requests across the city while attaching staff‑recommended conditions to several approvals.
Key approvals included the Beauty Bar (2299 Mission) POE, which the applicant described as a craft‑cocktail bar with capacity limited by a Type 48 liquor license and mitigation including a sound limiter and security staffing; Equal Parts (478 Green) LLP for indoor entertainment limited by zoning to 10 p.m.; Marella (2001 Chestnut) POE to allow prerecorded outdoor music and private‑event entertainment; Gau Viet Kitchen & Bar (Irving) POE, which staff approved after the applicant agreed to reduced weekday hours and a scheduled internal sound test with neighbors; and an LLP amendment for the Ramp (855 Terry Francois Blvd) to formally recognize ongoing outdoor programming at their patio and lawn areas.
Elevation Skypark at Pier 70 received conditional approval for a five‑year permit to host indoor and outdoor entertainment in geodesic domes and other structures; staff will set internal and external sound limits, and the applicants will coordinate with Brookfield Properties and the Port Authority. Grizzly's (4431 Mission) gained a POE permit with staff amendments after the applicant documented recent sound mitigation and added security measures; 81 Social Gallery was granted a conditional extended‑hours allowance (see separate article). Indigo (3321 Steiner) had its POE permit approved for indoor entertainment through 2 a.m.; staff clarified the application did not expand already permitted outdoor programming.
Most approvals were unanimous voice votes. Staff emphasized that for each permitted venue inspectors will set internal sound limits in accordance with Article 29, and that neighbors should use 311 and EC complaint channels to trigger prompt inspections. Several applicants agreed to additional mitigation measures, including spring doors, sound limiters, security staffing, and camera retention policies.
