The committee voted to forward Resolution 398-25 to the full council with a favorable recommendation. The resolution authorizes employment of special counsel (Leon, Kunihiro, Brooke and Kim) to handle workers’ compensation matters under a three-year agreement with an estimated total cost of $720,000.
Assistant Corporation Counsel Jay Yoshimoto explained the firm was the sole applicant in procurement, is a known provider that the county has used previously, and proposed fees were reasonable. Council members had no substantive objections recorded in the committee; the committee recorded seven ayes and two absences (Council members Villegas and Connelly Kleinfelder absent) and approved forwarding the resolution to full council.
