Mayor Christina Fugazi and the Stockton City Council on June 3 issued a proclamation recognizing June 2025 as LGBTQ+ Bridal Month, citing Stonewall and Stockton's commitment to inclusion.
Dakota Blaze, health equity director at Central Valley Gender Health & Wellness (CVGHW), accepted on behalf of the organization and delivered remarks urging the council to pair symbolic acts with sustained investment. Blaze said federal funding cuts have made local funding more urgent and requested city investment in LGBTQ youth services, safe housing, mental-health and substance-use supports, and targeted funding for QTBIPOC communities.
Blaze said the organization has partnered with Stockton for more than a decade and described the proclamation as meaningful but insufficient without concrete support.
Council members and community attendees spoke in support of the proclamation and highlighted the council's recent actions to raise the pride flag and make it a recurring June observance.
