In closed session the city attorney reported the Stockton City Council voted to settle Yangzong v. City of Stockton, San Joaquin County Superior Court case STK-CV-UAT-2022-4637, for $150,000. The report noted the settlement vote was unanimous.
The city attorney also reported the council authorized initiation of a separate litigation matter under the Government Code provisions read at the start of the meeting. The initiation action was reported as approved with two members recorded as dissenting (Mayor Christina Fugazi and Council Member Villapadua were identified in the report as dissenting on that initiation authorization). The attorney said additional particulars about defendants and claims would be disclosed upon commencement of the action and available on request.
The settlement was presented as the only closed-session report to the public record; the council confirmed there were no other reportable closed-session actions that evening.
