Wellington’s Village Council unanimously approved four ordinances at its Dec. 9 meeting, changing local zoning and approval processes for certain projects and clarifying appeal procedures.
The council adopted Ordinance 2025-20 to amend the Rustic Ranches overlay (previously limiting recreational-vehicle residency to two consecutive weeks per year). Planning staff said the amendment removes that two-week limit so the subarea conforms with standards used elsewhere in the equestrian overlay district; staff reported unanimous approval by the village’s Planning, Zoning and Adjustment Board and Environmental Planning Commission prior to council action. A councilmember moved to adopt the ordinance and the council voted in favor.
Council also adopted Ordinance 2025-31, which changes the village’s architectural-review process so the Architectural Review Board (ARB) provides a recommendation to council for projects that include height considerations or are Wellington projects (for example, municipal facilities). Planning staff said this measure is a procedural companion to the building-height changes and reported no changes since first reading.
Separately, the council approved Ordinance 2025-05 to clarify procedures for appeals to the Construction Board of Adjustment and Appeals so those procedures mirror appeals to PZAB (the Planning, Zoning and Adjustment Board).
All four ordinances were approved without recorded dissents.

What this means
