Village council extends inspection period in Wellington land sale to Dec. 9, 2025

The village council voted unanimously Monday to extend the inspection period in the purchase-and-sale agreement with Wellington Property Owner LLC to Dec. 9, 2025, giving staff and the project team additional time to finalize an amendment that revises how a reservoir parcel will be handled.
Council members heard from the project team, which described a change to earlier plans that had envisioned integrating the reservoir parcel into the site’s stormwater-management system. "...it was decided to go a different route and to have it be, have, related acquire that parcel, but to have the system be separate from the stormwater management system and disconnected and rerouted," said Unidentified Speaker 5, a project representative, explaining the reason for the contract changes. The council was told the substantive amendment reflecting those changes would be drafted and provided the following day and formally presented at the council’s Dec. 9 meeting.
Council members sought and received clarifications on timing, deposits and the overall purchase price. The meeting record shows the parties agreed the overall minimum purchase price would not change. "So it's the same total minimum purchase price to the cent," Unidentified Speaker 5 said. The additional deposits discussed were $387,000 from the school and $750,000 from Related, and speakers said the deposit required after the inspection period would be due Dec. 10 (24 hours after the period ends). The simultaneous closing for both parties was reported as unchanged and remains scheduled for Feb. 20.
Unidentified Speaker 2 moved to approve the third amendment to Article 3, Section 3.2 of the purchase-and-sale agreement to extend the inspection period to Dec. 9; Unidentified Speaker 4 seconded. Unidentified Speaker 1 announced the motion "passes unanimously."
Council members and the project team emphasized that the extension affects only the inspection period and the day-after deposit deadline, and that a fourth, more substantive amendment addressing acreage changes and the reservoir parcel will be presented on Dec. 9 for further council action.
