Tire Kings Collision asked to operate an auto body shop in Deer Park; board required fire-marshal paperwork, spray-booth permits, full parking-lot restriping and agreement to no outdoor storage before approval, and kept the record open for compliance documentation.
An applicant seeking Town of Babylon approval to operate an auto body and collision shop at 255 Skidmore Road was told on Jan. 7 that several safety and operational conditions must be met before the Zoning Board will consider approval.
Applicant Cecilio Joseph said he moved his auto-body work into the bigger building and currently operates with two family members. Joseph said he intends to paint vehicles and already put a deposit on a spray booth; he understood the town requires a spray booth permit and fire-marshal sign-off before painting activities may occur. "I wanna apply for, a permit for a spray booth," Joseph said.
Village staff and board members confirmed the fire marshal and building inspector identified outstanding items (smoke detectors, door repairs, updated extinguishers) and that a spray booth requires a formal application. The board said the parking lot must be fully repaved and restriped as a condition of approval and that outdoor storage is prohibited; owner/manager Jacob Curiali said patching had been done and full restriping would be scheduled.
The board kept the record open and said any approval would be conditioned on receipt of fire-marshal paperwork, spray-booth permit application, and proof that the parking lot has been restriped.
Next steps: Applicant to submit fire-marshal documentation and spray-booth plans and to confirm restriping completion; board will consider materials and may impose covenants and restrictions if it approves the use.
