Newberry County Council adopts road design standards, approves HVAC replacements using federal grant and sets 2025 schedule

"This is federal money... it actually came through the bipartisan infrastructure bill," Mr. Shekhar said. The county had budgeted $156,300 for the project, including a $75,000 grant share; bids arrived at $104,646, leaving a local share of $29,646. Council voted to award the contract (motion by Mr. Seese; second by Mr. Reeder); the vote is recorded as unanimous.
The agenda also included approval of the proposed 2025 County Council meeting schedule (motion by Mr. Fulmer; second by Mr. Scurry). Council discussed the July meeting timing around the Independence Day holiday and kept the proposed July date as listed, noting it could be changed later if necessary.
