County animal-control staff gave a detailed operation update covering December intake numbers, current inventory, facility plans and administrative details.
Staff said the shelter took in six cats in December (two surrenders, two city strays, one county stray and one found) and six dogs (three surrenders and three city strays). "We took in a total of 6 cats," the animal-control officer reported, and later added that 14 adoptable cats and 11 adoptable dogs were on hand, with two kittens still battling upper-respiratory illness.
The officer said Janssen's Electronics inspected Meadows Drive to provide a quote for interior and exterior cameras and that the shelter will start by moving lower-use office equipment to a new building then proceed to move daily-use items. Staff ordered 2026 rabies tags early but discovered five tags were printed with an incorrect three-year expiration; the vendor corrected the error and staff mailed the corrected tags to affected veterinarians.
The report also covered donations accounting, auction-basket proceeds and metal drives; staff said about 3,000 tanks that cannot be used will be scrapped for some return. Committee members asked questions about metal drive totals, equipment-moving logistics and the shelter software (ShelterTrack/ShelterBoss), which staff said they pay quarterly and are using mainly the basic program now.
No formal committee action was taken on the animal-control report; staff will follow up on requested donation breakdowns and provide additional intake data at a future meeting.
