Spring ISD board adopts first‑reading amendment to campus partnerships policy, approves workers' comp agreement and authorizes personnel action
Summary
Trustees approved on first reading an amended campus partnerships policy (ELA local), unanimously approved a 2026 workers' compensation administrative services agreement with TASB RMF, and approved superintendent recommendation to terminate a probationary employee; items will be placed on consent for final actions where required.
The Spring ISD Board of Trustees moved several governance and personnel items during the Jan. 6 work session.
Trustee Natasha McDaniel moved — and Trustee Correa seconded — adoption on first reading of amended board policy ELA (campus partnerships / partner applications), removing a specific website reference and clarifying that partner application forms are administrative exhibits to be posted on the district website while final application approvals continue to come to the board. The motion carried unanimously.
Trustees also considered a renewal of the district’s 2026 workers’ compensation administrative services agreement with the TASB Risk Management Fund (for administration of the district’s self‑insured workers’ compensation plan). Trustee Adams moved the agreement for approval; Trustee Jensen seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Administration said the fee increase in the contract is modest.
After the board’s closed session, Trustee McDaniel moved and Trustee Jensen seconded a personnel motion to terminate the probationary contract of Micaiah Cali for failure to perform the contract without good cause and to authorize notification to the State Board for Educator Certification under Texas Education Code §21.105(c). The board voted unanimously to approve the superintendent’s recommendation and to notify the employee and the state as required by statute.
Several other routine items were discussed and will appear on Tuesday’s consent agenda, including the educational planning guide publication and multiple policy readings resulting from TASB update 01/25.
