He said an AM session for early childhood had been missing from an attachment and described a newly formed principal's cabinet composed of teacher-nominated student representatives to provide program feedback.
Cross emphasized plans to pair programs such as electrical and mechatronics with rotating visits by military branches to show students how academy skills translate to service careers. He said two days of military engagement are planned in February and that service representatives highlighted how program skills map to technical roles.
Live-work opportunities were cited as a strong point: construction and electrical students contributed framing, drywall and wiring for a new collision repair classroom, and welding students fashioned recognition tokens for board members. Cross also reported improvements in attendance-tracking (a second-quarter attendance report at roughly 93–94% accuracy) and said 115 students had signed up for second-look tours that allow interested ninth graders to spend an hour in two programs.
Cross and Mrs. Kreider noted work to map student interests and pursue articulation agreements so students may earn credits (3, 6, 12 credits) at postsecondary institutions. The principal framed these items as part of ongoing recruitment and retention work for CTE pathways.
What’s next: Two days of military-branch engagement are planned in February; staff will continue work on articulation agreements and monitoring attendance and co-op student performance.
