The Mifflin County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 6 approved payments and payroll submitted for the period, accepted the treasurer's report and carried a series of routine financial and personnel motions.
Treasurer Diane presented the bills to be paid “this period,” listing accounts payable of $1,127,467.93 and two payroll disbursements of $507,542.29 and $402,052.23. She also reported a general account starting balance of $3,123,342.41, total debits of $3,209,330.60 and an ending balance of $3,073,693.03. The board moved, seconded and approved the accounts and the treasurer's report by voice vote.
During the meeting commissioners approved several tax‑related administrative items: exonerations of four per‑capita taxpayers in Green Township and requests to relieve the tax collector for parcels where mobile homes were destroyed by fire, with brief extensions for processing. The board also approved seven personnel items, including the retirement processing noted in the meeting.
The approvals were presented as routine county business; motions were made and carried by voice vote. Further budget adjustments and contracting items—covered elsewhere on the agenda—were opened for motion and handled in the same session.
