The Hoover City Council approved its consent agenda on Jan. 12, covering routine appointments, contract renewals and project change orders.
The city attorney summarized several items: appointment of the city'9s representative to the solid waste disposal authority; renewal of workers' compensation coverage; a renewal agreement with AT&T for fiber services to the public safety center in the amount of $36,597.54; a Charter Communications contract to relocate fiber and copper lines for an estimated $43,647.88; and a continuing resolution reflecting an anticipated $150,000 budget change for vendor cabling related to an NCFI build-out. The attorney said changes to job classification language were corrections only and did not require a budget amendment.
The consent agenda also included change orders for the new Hoover Fire Station No. 1 (three small change items of $7,554.32; $4,278; and $207) and a Riverchase Village drainage project change order to address a failed drainage pipe on Highway 31 (3780 Lorna Road). The attorney described the total Riverchase project cost as "estimated not to exceed $4,500,000 with the city's contribution capped at $400,000." Funding for the city contribution was described as coming from a prior budget amendment and capital projects fund transfers.
A council member moved to approve the consent agenda; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. No items were pulled for separate discussion during this meeting.
Details recorded in the meeting record will guide contract execution and project work moving forward.
