The Hoover City Council approved Resolution 87-19-26 on Jan. 12 to grant Sports Facilities Management (SFM) a limited exception to a contractual 100-mile radius restriction.

As the city attorney summarized, the resolution “grants a limited exception to the 100 mile radius clause in the agreement between the city and sports facilities management.” Council discussion noted that similar exemptions had been made previously but were not memorialized in prior minutes. One council member said he had an extensive conversation with Jason from SFM that "settled about 98% of my concerns," and staff reported that the city already has management contracts with two facilities outside the Hoover Met complex: the San Martin Parks Amphitheater in Albertville and Bill Noble Park in Gardendale. Council also noted the site currently under consideration is covered by a nondisclosure agreement and asked members not to reveal the location.

Council moved and seconded the resolution and it was approved by voice vote. The action does not amend the underlying contract language but records the council'9s approval of the limited exception going forward.
