Members of the Boulder Board of Zoning Adjustment discussed whether to submit an optional annual letter to City Council and opted not to provide one this year.
The city attorney and staff advised any letter should tie remarks to the citywide strategic plan and avoid violating Colorado open-meetings law. Staff said the deadline for letters is Dec. 19 and that the council is emphasizing strategic-plan-linked commentary. "These are completely optional," staff said, urging that any comments be focused on items in the strategic plan.
Board members said they did not identify a pressing issue that merited a formal letter. Staff also described that applications for boards and commissions are open and invited members to recruit candidates. An open house for prospective applicants was announced for Monday, Jan. 5, at the East Boulder Community Center from about 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; staff said one or more board volunteers can staff a table to answer questions.
The board raised no objections to staff'recommended next steps on recruitment and scheduling and closed the item.
