The Carroll County Board of Supervisors moved through routine administrative items at its Jan. 5 meeting, approving minutes, the consent calendar, and invoices included in the meeting packet.
County attorney advised the board that Virginia law requires annual consideration and adoption of a remote participation policy. The board voted to continue its existing remote participation policy, which permits individual members to participate remotely for travel, personal, or medical reasons when a quorum is present.
The board also completed a series of appointments and reappointments: Fred Bobbitt was reappointed to the Social Services Board; Mike Watson was appointed to the New River Valley Regional Jail Board; a replacement appointment placed a supervisor on the Carroll Wellness Center Board in place of an absent member (one abstention was recorded); and Ronald Newman was nominated and approved for the NRHRD and C board. The board made additional budget committee nominations during member comments.
All routine votes were recorded by roll call in the public transcript.
