Person County board confirms multiple board and commission appointments

Actions included reappointment of Bruce Whitfield to the Agricultural Advisory Board; reappointment of Dusty Wall and Steven Watkins to airport-related slots; reappointment of Cynthia Lynch to the Board of Adjustment; appointments to the Human Services Advisory Committee with staggered terms; multiple appointments to the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) including Anita Banks, Beverly Cates, Charles Croson, Louise Oliver, Deborah Sierra and Mia Winstead; approval of Garrison Bowes Perkins to the opioid settlement advisory committee; Robbie Jones and Dr. Claudia Berryhill to the Tourism Development Authority; and Reverend Philip Jackson to the Workforce Development Board, among others.
The board confirmed the appointments and reappointments by voice votes during the agenda's item for appointments. The clerk said all vacancies were solicited by public notice through the county website and local paper; commissioners discussed term lengths and staggering in several cases.
