Kosciusko County highway update: three paving projects completed; signage planned for new turn lanes
Summary
The county highway representative reported completion of three paving projects this year — 700 West, Mach Road (Maple Leaf Farm TIF area) and added turning lanes on Old 30 — and said the paint-striped lanes have caused driver confusion so additional signage will be added; invoicing remains outstanding for some work.

Steve, the highway department representative, gave the commission a seasonal update on three projects completed this year: paving on 700 West (just south of State Road 25, extending past Burkett Elementary/Extension School to 700 South), Mach Road in the Maple Leaf Farm TIF area (completed using county crews), and expansion of north- and south-bound turning lanes on Old 30 to handle increased traffic.
Steve said the county partnered with Finn and Brown for paving on the north portion of 700 West and completed the other projects with county forces. He noted that paint striping on Old 30 has caused some drivers to mistake the turn lane for an additional travel lane and that "some signage from the highway department will have to be placed out there reminding people." He also said invoicing is not complete for all work and that the department expects remaining receipts by year end.
Ending: The commission thanked Steve for the update; no formal action was reported regarding highway funding at this meeting.
