The Clinton City Schools board voted to approve its November financial report and a $200,000 budget amendment to cover playground expenses.
Mr. Ray, who presented the financial statements, described the month as "kind of normal, ordinary business as usual" while flagging one large variance: capital projects were significantly overspent because playground and auditorium costs fell into the current fiscal year due to timing. He said a budget amendment would "true that up" and that federal-project reimbursements have been arriving within his 30-to-45-day target. He also reported the cafeteria fund is projecting a surplus of about $30,000.
The board moved to approve the November financial report and then voted to adopt budget amendment number 2, which increases capital expenditures by $200,000 to cover the playground costs and adjusts state grant revenues and related expenditures to match award notices. The motions carried by board vote as read by the clerk.
What happens next: staff will implement the budget amendment and post the adjusted financials; Mr. Ray indicated the district will present a separate budget amendment entry to formally reflect the playground and auditorium timing on the fiscal statements.
