The board also approved a schedule change that moves the middle school from trimester to a seven‑period/semester‑style arrangement for the 2026–27 school year; presenters said the change will create additional sections and scheduling flexibility without necessarily adding FTE and will better align the middle school with high‑school and academy schedules.
Members approved forming a separate Local Government Investment Pool (LGIP) fund to hold tennis‑dome donations for transparency and tracking, and they authorized a preconstruction contract with the district's architect (LKV, referenced in packet) for the new elementary school. The board also authorized appraisals of district parcels for up to $9,000 to provide valuation data for future planning.
The board approved launching a Junior ROTC program (Army JROTC) as a pilot for the 2026–27 school year; district staff said the Army provides curriculum, equipment and instructor placement while the district would cover roughly half of the instructor salary and benefits.
