Jonathan Street, senior associate with the Becker Morgan Group, presented a comprehensive signage plan on behalf of the State of Delaware for the Delaware State Fire School (application CSDash26DashO1) during the Jan. 8 Kent County Regional Planning Commission public hearing.
Street said the campus houses three distinct entities — the fire commission, the fire marshal s office and the fire school — and the signage package is intended to update and mimic existing signage across those uses. The plan includes a new seal over the cupola at the main entrance and a proposed digital sign; Street specified the digital sign dimensions as "14 feet long and 5 feet tall." Miss Sherry Lambertson, identified in the hearing as executive director of the State Park Commissions, was present in the audience representing the owner.
Commissioners asked a few clarifying questions about the digital sign and general layout; Street said the new signs are intended to match existing campus signage and to serve visitors and the multiple campus offices. No members of the public in person or online spoke in favor of or opposition to the sign package during the hearing.
No decision was made at the Jan. 8 hearing; the commission will consider the plan at its Jan. 15 business meeting. As with other public‑hearing applications, the Levy Court is scheduled to hear the item Jan. 27 if it proceeds to that forum.
