Pritchard said residents can also donate reusable items to a teacher reuse store for classroom use and can bring scrap metal to the county’s metal collection point at 441. “If you’re having an Amazon Christmas, please break down all of your cardboard,” she said. She added that diverting tonnage from the landfill is the goal and that her group can advise residents on what belongs in recycling, metal, or reuse streams.
Pritchard closed by offering assistance to residents who have questions about where to bring specific items and thanked the community “for what you do to keep Oconee County clean, green, and beautiful.” The announcement did not include any formal votes or policy changes and was presented as a community information update.
