Teresa Barrera was elected vice chair of the Kane County Judicial and Public Safety Strategic Planning and Technology Commission on Jan. 13 after Chief Judge Villa nominated her and she accepted.

Chief Judge Villa made the nomination and the chair called for discussion; Barrera briefly thanked members and accepted. The commission conducted a roll‑call vote and members recorded unanimous support.

Barrera was identified during the meeting as the Kane County circuit clerk with long involvement in the county’s case‑management system. The commission’s bylaws specify that the vice chair conducts business when the chair is unavailable; the chair had requested the commission elect a vice chair rather than make a unilateral appointment.
