Courthouse project: Chairman presented the courthouse renewal that includes security upgrades, two additional courtrooms, expanded clerk office space and a reconfigured probate judge office. The construction manager‑at‑risk proposal sets a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) of $4,715,000, including approximately $200,000 in contingency. The board voted to accept the GMP and to pay from the capital fund; staff said the project will last roughly 10 months once construction begins.
Jail equipment: Melissa (county staff) said the jail’s original 20‑year walk‑in cooler and freezer have reached end of life. Three quotes were solicited; the lowest quote for removal and replacement was $76,096. Additional temporary storage and sprinkler work bring the total request to $79,656. The board approved a budget amendment and the purchase; funds are available in the capital projects fund.
Budget calendar: Melissa also presented the FY27 budget submittal plan: department requests due Feb. 13; first public hearing May 5; second hearing May 19; planned adoption June 2, 2026. The board adopted the schedule.
What’s next: staff will proceed with procurement and contract finalization for the courthouse renovation and schedule work. The jail cooler vendor procurement and installation will proceed under the approved budget amendment.
