The Lamar County Commission paused its Dec. 8 session to recognize the retirement of Von Pennington after more than 25 years of county service.

Chair read a plaque presented to Pennington that lists a start date of Sept. 26, 2000, and a retirement date of Dec. 31, 2025, noting 25 years and three months of service and ‘‘sincere appreciation for your many years of hard work and dedicated service to Lamar County.’’ Commissioners and staff thanked Pennington, exchanged remarks and took photographs.

Pennington received brief congratulatory comments from multiple attendees. The recognition was presented on behalf of the commission, the county administrator and the county engineer. No formal action beyond the presentation was recorded in the minutes.
