Commissioners name Commissioner Long vice chair for 2026

Commissioner Cooper (District 3) declined the vice-chair role citing daytime meeting conflicts; commissioners discussed customary rotation and the rules in Section 1-104 (vice chair selection). Commissioner Henderson nominated Commissioner Long as the next in rotation; Long accepted the nomination. The board then moved and seconded the nomination and approved Commissioner Long as vice chair.
Commissioners noted the vice-chair position offers leadership experience for those who may later seek the chair role and that the vice chair steps in when the chair is absent (but may not exercise tie-breaking chair votes).
