Newton County approves $1.5035 million GMP amendment for Factory Shoals Park construction

Jeff Bryan presented the amendment, saying the GMP being proposed for construction is $1,500,000 and that the contract includes a prior $3,500 pre-construction services fee. He said the design team and staff had determined the best use of the funded amount and recommended moving forward into the construction phase.
Commissioners asked for clarification about the contract total. The presenter confirmed the amended contract total would be $1,503,500 including pre-construction services. Following a motion and second, the board voted to approve the guaranteed contract amendment, enabling Sunbelt Builders to proceed to construction planning and procurement under the GMP.
The county will oversee usual construction-phase reporting and will return to the board with any change orders or scope adjustments that exceed the GMP.
