Perry County tourism board elects officers, approves routine invoices and marketing spending

The Perry County tourism board voted to elect new officers and approved a series of routine bills and marketing expenditures at its meeting.

Board members nominated candidates for president, vice president, treasurer and secretary and carried the motions by voice/show-of-hands votes. A motion was made to nominate Barry Styles for president; the board ultimately installed Evan Berry as president following the nomination and vote process. Members also nominated Cindy Glippen for vice president and approved treasurer and secretary nominations by show of hands.

The board approved routine payments during the financial report. Approved items noted in the meeting included a City of Chelsea rent payment for $833.33, a fiber/internet invoice of about $103.14, and brochure-related invoices including a map-design charge of $505.75. Members also moved and approved payment of an invoice to Chance By Design and an $835 membership fee to ITA in advance of an upcoming trade conference. The board voted to continue an annual subscription to the Perry County News at $54.99.

Eric, the board’s director, said the brochure printing and website updates are nearly complete and that the organization is tracking production costs so future vendor negotiations can be better informed. "I have written a 2026 Perry County marketing plan," Eric told members as he outlined upcoming marketing steps.

The board authorized promotional spending for an upcoming travel show in Louisville and approved a motion to allocate $250 for chamber-style gift certificates to be used as giveaways to attract visitors to the Perry County booth. The motion carried on a second and voice vote.

Next steps recorded at the meeting included follow-up on ACH and bill-pay options with German American bank, continued tracking of brochure production costs and finalizing logistics for the Louisville show.
