Moorhead planning commission approves 2026 meeting dates, tables officer election and hears annual report

The Moorhead Planning Commission approved its 2026 meeting schedule, tabled the 2026 election of officers and received the 2025 annual report as an informational item at its Jan. 5 meeting.
City Planner Houston presented a calendar of meeting dates prepared under the commission's bylaws and noted two scheduled meetings fall near holidays and may be moved to the following Tuesday. The commission moved, seconded and approved the 2026 schedule.
Houston also told commissioners that two members were absent and that there is a new appointment to the former chair's Ward 3 seat; Houston recommended deferring the election of officers until the commission is fuller. The motion to table the election until February carried.
On the annual report, Houston said the report summarizes items that came before the commission in 2025 and that staff will forward it to the city manager to share with the city council; no action was required. Houston also noted Commissioner Brent Beam's term ends Jan. 31 after six years of service and thanked him for his service.
With no further business the chair called for and received a motion to adjourn.
