The Weston Public Schools Communication Committee on Jan. 9 agreed to finalize and distribute a short write-up summarizing the Board of Education’s recent facilities meeting and to coordinate broader distribution beyond school channels.
Speaker 3 said she had watched the facilities meeting recording and sent a draft; the committee asked Nicole to finalize the content and email it to Speakers 1 and 2 for a focused pre-meeting review. Members said they preferred an in‑body S'more/bricks-and-mortar template to reduce the chance that recipients would overlook an attached PDF.
On funding and timing, the committee clarified that the deadline to file a state reimbursement grant application is June 30 of any given year. Speaker 2 and others discussed that applying for the grant does not alone commit the town to funding; approval requires town action and, if necessary, a referendum. The group expressed intent to hold a referendum in November 2026 and to aim to file the state application in June 2026 if feasible, with June 2027 as a fallback.
Committee members also discussed coordination with principals and PTO leaders to amplify the message and the technical need to make a printable one‑page calendar and PDF links visible on the district site. The next Communication Committee meeting is set for Feb. 6 at 9 a.m.
