Buckeye Valley board elects Mary Kate Pembroke president, Jeffrey named vice president; officers, appointments and routine resolutions pass

Mary Kate Pembroke was elected president of the Buckeye Valley Local School District Board of Education at the board’s organizational meeting after members held nominations and a roll-call vote. Mister Jeffrey was elected vice president and was earlier confirmed as treasurer pro tem while the treasurer is on medical leave.
The board also appointed Mister Dickey to serve on the Delaware Area Career Center Board of Education for a three-year term through Dec. 31, 2028, established routine committee assignments and approved administrative resolutions that the board customarily acts on at its annual organizational meeting.
The meeting followed standard organizational procedures: nominations were opened, candidates accepted or declined, and offices were filled by majority roll-call votes. The board president outlined plans to form three standing committees — strategic planning, policy and finance & audit — that will include board members, district administrators and community representatives to advise on long-term planning, policy review and financial forecasting.
Board members approved the annual meeting calendar (with a minor July scheduling adjustment), designated the Delaware Gazette as the district newspaper of record and established a $6,000 service fund to reimburse board-member expenses incurred in the performance of duties. The board president said public-records-access training will be handled by the treasurer (Kelly) and encouraged other members to complete the training.
