City staff updated council on recent change orders and the construction timeline for the New Hoover Fire Station No. 1.
Mister Miller said Change Orders 31–33 total $12,039.35 and that the project remains within the budgeted amount. He told the council the project had begun accruing liquidated damages and that, "as of Friday, we will be 130 days where we are assessing liquidated damages for a total of $65,000" toward the project. Miller said liquidated damages stop at substantial completion and that the contractor would have 30 days to complete any remaining punch‑list items; if the punch‑list work exceeds that 30‑day window, liquidated damages could resume.
When asked for a move‑in date, Miller said he could not yet provide a firm date; he expected the contractor to provide an updated schedule after an OAC meeting with the contractor and architect. He said at least three additional change orders may be forthcoming but that current budgeted funds should cover the work and the city would not likely need to request additional appropriations at this time.
The change orders were presented as Resolution No. 871726 during the work session; no final council vote was recorded in the work session.
