Breckenridge names Taylor Hardy interim public-works lead and sets zoned brush-pickup schedule

The City Manager told the commission that Taylor Hardy, the city’s public service director who was hired about six months ago, has agreed to step into the public works director role and will begin transitioning into that position in January.
"He has agreed to step into that role, and he will do a phenomenal job," the City Manager said, describing Hardy's experience managing large teams and his family ties to Breckenridge. The manager said staff will avoid overloading Hardy during the transition and will continue communicating with him as responsibilities shift.
The manager also outlined a new curbside brush-pickup program that divides the city into four zones. Each zone will receive curbside pickup twice a year (example months given by staff: zone A — February and September; zone B — March and October; zone C — April and November; zone D — May and December). Residents must place brush at the curb four days before the beginning of the month scheduled for pickup; residents may continue to haul brush to the city drop-off site for free.
Staff said the city will distribute the new plan via a press release and social media and will publish pickup zone maps. A commissioner asked how residents notify the city; staff responded that the city will send out a press release and post the information on Facebook and that residents may still use the drop-off option.
What’s next: staff will publish zone maps and a schedule and provide outreach to residents ahead of the first zone pickups in early 2026.
