Santa Rosa arts committee reviews draft Sustainable Studio Guide

"The goal of this guide would be not only just to offer it online, but we have events, like, such as Earth Day," Meredith said while introducing the draft and explaining how staff plan to distribute the resource through events and the arts webpage.
Committee members recommended adding links to existing health-and-safety resources (ventilation and toxicity guidance), referencing Recology and local recycling/remediation programs, and coordinating with Public Works to provide waste-disposal support at city-sponsored events. Members also suggested linking to county reuse events and community maker/repair fairs as resources for artists to source and donate materials.
Discussion included implementation and strategic fit: staff proposed tying the guide to the city’s climate goals and to a strategic-plan objective related to increased business involvement (goal 3). Committee members recommended coordinating with Creative Sonoma and the Art Education Network to avoid duplicating existing workshops and to use partnerships to host training and outreach. Staff said they hope to publish the guide by the end of the month and invited committee members to send additional comments within 7–10 days for incorporation.
No formal action was taken; staff will return with any updates as needed.
