During the Jan. 9 IT and Central Services meeting, John said the county is waiting on a tax refund check owed to iFiber following an overpayment in 2024.

"We're literally waiting on the check back from the IRS because nobody knows how much that check is," John told the committee, explaining that the amount is uncertain until the physical check arrives and interest calculations are finalized. He said that once iFiber receives the IRS check, iFiber will provide documentation of the quarter split and the county will sign an acknowledgment to complete distribution.

Committee members acknowledged the delay and characterized the iFiber item as pending government action; no formal county action was taken at the meeting beyond noting the status.
